The primary function of the pressure switch is to monitor and regulate the water pressure in the system. It does this through a simple but effective mechanism.

How It Works

The pressure switch consists of two pressure-sensitive components: a diaphragm and a set of electrical contacts. As water is pumped into the storage tank, the pressure in the system increases. The diaphragm within the pressure switch is sensitive to these pressure changes. When the pressure reaches a preset level, the diaphragm triggers the electrical contacts to close, which, in turn, activates the pump.

Once the contacts close, the pump starts drawing water from the source and into the storage tank. As the water level in the tank rises, the pressure increases, and the diaphragm continues to monitor this pressure. When the pressure reaches another preset level, the diaphragm triggers the contacts to open, shutting off the pump. This cycle repeats as water is used in your home, ensuring a constant and consistent water pressure.
