What should I do if the pump pressure switch does not work properly?

A Pump Pressure Switch is a simple piece of equipment that works by detecting water pressure. It consists of an internal spring and a set of electrical contacts. Over time, these parts may become weak or corrode, and this can cause the switch to not work properly. Other factors that can affect the switch's performance are humidity and the frequency of use. When the switch fails to detect water pressure, the pump will not turn on or off.

If the switch is not working properly, it could have a loose spring or worn-down electrical contacts. These parts can be replaced without replacing the entire unit. It is important to tighten the pressure adjustment nut so that the switch is at the correct pressure. A faulty pressure switch can lead to a leak in your pump.

If you find a leak under the switch, you should replace it. There are two types of Pressure Switches: heavy duty and regular. The heavy duty switch is usually recommended for pumps of 2.0 to 5.0 horsepower. Pumps of 1.5 hp and lower should use regular pressure switches. Changing the pressure switch is easy and cheap.

Pump Pressure Switches can be either manual or automatic. These switches work by monitoring water pressure. If a water pressure is too high or too low, the switch shuts off. In addition, some pressure switches can be programmed to automatically shut down the pump if water pressure falls below the preset level.
